PRESS RELEASE NO EMBARGO

The use of the term “Mandatory Palestine” in the Matric Maths Literacy question paper 2023 – A deliberate act?
Al Jama-ah Party calls on the Department of Education to deal severely with the official/s responsible for including a question which refers to Palestine as “Mandatory” in the Matric Maths Literacy question paper which was written on Friday 03 November 2023.
The party is outraged as to how this question could have been slipped in now. “This is a despicable act – seems to have been deliberate- and those, who were part of it, must be dealt with contempt. We are questioning the sincerity of officials placed in responsible positions to oversee the education of our children. This is unacceptable and only demonstrate to what extent supporters of Zionism use opportunities to perpetuate their trash!” exclaimed Hon Ganief Hendricks, Al Jama-ah’s Member of Parliament.
Earlier this year, the Party submitted a question to the Minister of Basic Education to investigate the Herzlia Independent High School in Cape Town; a school that openly -so and unashamedly so – professed that they encourage their matriculants to visit zionist Israel for military training and for teaching the Zionist ‘ideology.’ In fact, no action was taken by the DoE against the school nor against the teachers that publicly stated what they do. The party’s question: Is this not against our country’s Constitution and should action and be taken against South Africans trained in Israel’s Defence Force?
Al Jama-ah says the party is fully aware that Zionists supporters and sympathisers have infiltrated not only government departments, but also the corporate sectors and as a result, they use whatever chance they get to perpetuate their deplorable Zionist teachings.
This disgraceful act was a further insult when one considers the 11 000 (and more) innocent Palestinians who were mercilessly killed by zionist forces of the apartheid state of Israel during the past three weeks.. The question that Al Jama-ah wishes to pose is: Why did the DoE authorities permit such a question to be included in the matric exam paper? This appears innocent but closer scrutiny informs the party that this was a deliberate move to illustrate the land of Palestinians was under the control of the Zionist state; a state that has oppressed the Palestinians since the formation of the apartheid state in 1948 and that has occupied that land since then.
