AL JAMA-AH RESPONSE TO SA MOVING TO LEVEL 3

The AL JAMA-AH Party says saving lives must trump saving livelihoods. The party therefor rejects the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa’s agreement to balance saving lives and saving livelihoods.
The strict Health, Safetry and Covid-19 FIGHTBACK Regulations for companies with more than 500 employees must be extended to companies with 20 or more employees. A member of the company’s Health and Safety Team should be appointed fulltime to monitor the strict compliance and serve as the ears and eyes of labour inspectors.
If companies fail to implement the strict Health and Safety measures, we will in June see a spike in line with the prediction by the President’s team of 80 000 infections and 3000 more deaths. Weighing this against the benefit of saving livelihoods is not acceptable for AL JAMA-AH.
AL JAMA-AH is disappointed that the President gave in to big businesses and the official opposition, the DA (Democratic Alliance). One could not miss the uncomfortable look in the President’s eyes when he addressed the Nation last night.
