AL JAMA-AH condemns the rising of Islamophobia as calculated attacks on Islam and Muslims in South Africa.
AL JAMA-AH is aware of and is disgusted by the recent increase in Islamophobia within the borders of South Africa.
In July, the ACDP made a statement at a sitting of Parliament insinuating that “Islamic Jihadists” are in the SADC region and are responsible for the attacks on women, children and churches in Mozambique. Our leader in Parliament, Hon. Ganief Hendricks warned the member of the ACDP against making unfounded statements.
It is common knowledge that the ACDP is among the political parties in South Africa that are sympathetic to Israel. Their attack on Islam is a symbol to keep their relationship intact. This attack on Islam in Parliament has given rise to Islamophobia in South Africa, as can be seen by the application made by an Isipingo Beach resident against Islam. He says that the call to prayer from the madressa close to his home affects him, yet the call isn’t amplified. He calls Islam a sexist and racist religion.
This is an indication of his ignorance on the religion and we are certain that there are many who will volunteer to educate him, even from the same institution that he attacks. It must be noted that the Isipingo Beach community is made up of residents from different religious backgrounds who all live together side by side in harmony.
On a positive note, AL JAMA-AH is heartened by the support that the Muslim community is receiving from faith-based organizations. Al Jama-ah calls on all law abiding, patriotic South Africans to lend their voices against Islamophobia and the attack on religious freedom
