AL JAMA-AH to pilot new business incubator project for youth with disabilities on the Cape Flats

Al Jama-ah is calling for people with disabilities including sensory disabilities under 27 years old to join its innovative business project to help them out of unemployment and poverty.

The project is aimed at people with disabilities living on the Cape Flats including Khayelitsha, Athlone, and Mitchells Plain areas. The economic conditions on the Cape Flats continue to deplete, with many of its residents facing triple challenges of poverty, unemployment, and inequality.

Applicants who can produce a good business idea can depend on support from AL JAMA-AH’s Parliamentary Constituency Office with resources; mentorship; bank of ideas; assistance with a business plan; ensure the business plan complies with SEDA requirements and lobbying for support.

While the AL JAMA-AH’s Parliamentary Constituency Office will play a supportive role and educational role, the granting of hybrid finance is at the sole discretion of the Small Business Development Department and its agencies SEFA and SEDA.  

Al Jama-ah is calling for all those with start-up business ideas or nominees to be part of this new program. Conditions to apply for the business incubator program are”

  • Applicants or those nominated to be under the age 0f 27
  • Applicants must have a recognized disability such as deafness, blindness, physically disabled, and sensory challenges.
  • applicants reside within the Cape Flats, Mitchel’s Plain, Khayelitsha and Athlone areas.
  • The business idea of the applicants or nominees must be in line with that of the incubator program.
