*Background*
*Living the Struggle, Pick it Up and Jozi at Work Solidarity March Supported By Al Jama-Ah*

In June 2018 The DA and EFF coalition resolved to do away with third-party contracts and decided that the era of insourcing was now in full swing in the City of Johannesburg, leading the coalition was the great saint and philanthropist, also a supposed whistleblower Herman Mashaba. With the notion of a quick win and instant gratification ranging high on the priority list for insourcing of subcontracted employees; this led to a catastrophe of flowed processes ranging from sidelining of the beneficiaries of the insourcing initiative, failing to procure equipment to provide effective cleaning services among others.

Ironically while on the opposition bench the ANC took to streets almost every year during the DA regime; the African National Congress rallied the support of other smaller political parties to gather in solidarity in a peaceful demonstration aimed at advocating for the reinstatement of these former Pick it Up and Jozi at Work ex-workers, with Al Jama-Ah as a strong supporter of the initiative. Parties from the opposition bench pursued the matter. With no prospects of success, the morale gradually died down or vice-verser. However, without fear or favour, Al Jama-Ah is once again pledging its solidarity in a final stretch, this time presenting the ruling party with an opportunity to be a party for the people by meeting the demands of the people of Johannesburg and practice what they preach.

We do not hold the government accountable rather our approach as a political party is to provide strategic direction on how to impose service delivery and drive processes that are result orientated. Therefore as a demonstration of this… nearly a decade later, with all the resolutions taken, awards and court rulings in favour of these workes; an equally displace Al Jama-Ah is taking a position in solidarity with Pick it Up, and Jozi at work employees in a peaceful march with the aim of handing over a memorandum of demands to the current administration in the City of Johannesburg.

NB: We will be Assembling at the Library Gardens, Johannesburg CBD at 9:00 am Before proceeding to the Speaker’s Corner at the Metro Centre for the handing over of the Memorandum of Demand.
