Observations by MP, Adv Salies at Ratlou Local Municipality
Upgrade of Matloding and Logageng sports complex
The complex is built in a very remote area far removed from the people, no idea how this site was chosen.
There are gravel roads leading to the complex and roads are in a very bad condition.
It is evident that the areas it intends to cater for will be costly for the people to utilize the facilities. There are clear signs of people struggling, poor homes and surrounding areas.
While speaking to members of the community – they are excited for the complex to be upgraded as sports is popular in the area, but travel is costly.
It is shocking that such a big project only created 16 jobs to date.
The project cost 26 million and 18 million was spent.
According to information received, the project is 75% completed.
Percentage of expenditure 65%
Anticipated completion date of 2025
But the expected completion date of June 2025 is highly questionable
The Soccer field lines are completely out – which we know can be remedied.
The field is further intended for Rugby.
The Irrigation system is yet to be completed.
The Guardhouse is not completed, and stadium seats need to be refurbished.
The combi court is not level and quality of workmanship is concerning
The toilet facilities though noted as complete are not operational
The athletic track, and long jump needs to be completed as well.
Queries on contracts and responsibilities of fixing defects responses are a bit vague.
The total employed is 26 people.
