2024: Reflecting on a Year of Service and Growth – Al Jama-ah in Umdoni Municipality

As we close out another year, we want to take a moment to thank the incredible people of Umdoni Municipality for their continued support. This year, our office had the privilege of assisting thousands of individuals with key services, including proof of residence, water and electricity issues, and other service delivery matters.

Our efforts went beyond just resolving queries. We helped youth with bursary applications, sourced funding for their studies, and supported women entrepreneurs with materials to start their businesses. Through our Each 1 Feed 1 program, we were able to provide food assistance to over 500 families throughout the year. Additionally, our relief initiatives helped ensure that elderly members of our community received essential adult diapers.

We’re proud to report that, through indigent applications and various billing queries, we successfully secured over R2 million in write-offs, putting much-needed funds back in the pockets of our residents.

Our membership base has also grown, and we invite you all to join Al Jama-ah, become active members, and help us continue making a difference in Umdoni and beyond.

Our Councillor has been at the forefront of service delivery, always advocating for the community within council and committees. As Chair of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) he has played a key role in reducing unauthorized, irregular, and wasteful expenditure, and ensuring a strong control environment within the municipality.

As we enter a new year, we wish you all the best and humbly ask for your prayers as we continue to serve you and work for a better future.
