PR Councillor Achmat Hendricks recently paid a visit to the Jabulani Feeding and Learning Center in Parkwood, Cape Town.

Jabulani was started during the 1980’s specifically to feed the children and elderly of the Parkwood area. Parkwood has since been classified as a Zone of Poverty by the Department of Social Development. With a high incidence of substance abuse, crime and violence, unemployment, high incidence of HIV/Aids, single parent, child and/or grandparents headed households, poverty and other social ills.

Today Jabulani feeds 500 kids daily and teaches 150 kids madrassah lessons.

Al Jama-ah honours the work of Jabulani, and recently donated clothing to support the work of the centre

PR Councillor Achmat Hendricks, accompanied by Al jama-ah member Raihaan Pietersen, followed up with a visit – and to see how Al Jama-ah can be of any further assistance.
