WHY WE JOINED THE GNU!
YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
” WE WILL NOT BACKBENCH while the gains of our country’s democracy are at risk of being reversed; factoring in these, the party opts to step-in, if only to protect the fundamentals of the liberation struggle and aspirations of South Africans. The party plans to participate because it carries a responsible mandate of its voters, and it will not allow anything or anyone to change or interfere with that.” Al Jama-ah Founder & Honourable Leader : Ganief Hendricks

The GNU’s Political Steering Committee (PSC) is the ultimate battlefield to not only fight for the preservation of our communities’ liberty from the neoliberal DA and its support for minority (white) rule but to also endeavour to push them out of the GNU structures completely.

WE KEEP OUR PROMISES!
IT’S TIME TO EXPERIENCE THE AL JAMA-AH EFFECT
FULFILLING OUR PROMISES
Prior to the 2019 National Elections, Al Jama-ah committed to safeguard Muslim women’s marital rights and to assist all women who have endured humiliation, injustice, and destitution in our community. With devotion and pressure from Al Jama-ah’s three Private Members Bill’s (PMB), the pledge was fulfilled in 2023.
Our strength in ACTION, not just hot air and blatant rhetoric!
Every democratic SA President has promised Muslim marriages would be recognised. These promises gave Muslim women and children hope that their dignities would be restored. But their promises came to nothing, just hot air and disappointment for Muslims.
Soon after AL JAMA-AH got its first parliamentary seat in the 2019 National Elections, it started fighting to realise its election promises. Among these was to ensure that Muslim marriages would be legally registered.
This goal was achieved in 2023 – a few months before the 2024 National Elections was announced. After 300 years of exclusion, there is now no need for a lawyer and a notary as Home Affairs will register the Nikah as ‘out of community of property’, unless otherwise requested. Surviving spouses can now also get a valid Muslim marriage certificate. Rights they have NEVER enjoyed before!
