On 16 November Advocate Shameemah Salie was invited to address and to welcome the General Consular of Türkiye to the Ottomon Cricket club.
Member of parliament Advocate Salie further engaged with constituents on improvements and needs of the Ottomons cricket club which is the oldest Muslim club in South Africa and it is important to note that it has deep seated roots in the Ottomons empire.
Salie said”It is indeed impressive to watch the Ottomon Cricket club men entrusting key positions to women in the club and supporting them in the roles held.Watching the Ottomons cricket team excellence performance was indeed heartwarming.”
She went further in saying”It is further encouraging to have participated in the Ottomons Archery a sport now offered at the club which has deep roots in the Deen of Islam.”
I would encourage young and old to participate in the Archery offered, said Salie.
Archery is a highly regarded skill that every Muslim is encouraged to learn and practice. It is not simply a matter of learning to hit a target, rather, Muslim archers practice a deep sense of respect and gratitude towards God the almighty through the use of their bow and arrow. After all, the humble bow and arrow, with the grace of God, provides food for the archer and their family, safety from predators and enemies as well as a means of training and gaining strength for one’s body and sharpening the mind.
I wish to thank the a Ottomons cricket club for their hard work and dedication to upliftment of community through Sports, Arts and Culture and deep spirituality. May the club indeed go from strength to strength Ameen.
