URGENT – PRESS RELEASE ON ALL AL JAMA-AH’S SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND OFFICIAL WEBSITE
Al Jama-Ah would like to take this opportunity to retract statements that have been made on its official website, various social media platform profiles, such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram about the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
The Party issued the press release which was published on 4 February 2020. Having again considered the statements and the facts as we now know, or believe them to be, we admit that the statements were made unfairly and by mere association, these statements would have implicated persons which were never our intention.
We confirm that we do not believe that UWC is being led by any type of unlawful or ‘mafia rule’ that is looting it of its funds. These views we premised what we now admit were mere complaints and perceptions.
We were requested by the UWC Council’s legal representatives to retract the media release of 4 February 2020 and on the advice from our legal representatives have agreed to do so.
We apologise unequivocally to UWC and its Council and wish them all the best for the future and may they continue to be a symbol of growth and hope to all South Africans, irrespective of their background.
