Al Jama-Ah Welcomes Mayoral Walkabout in Scottburgh Umdoni Municipality, Scottburgh
The Al Jama-Ah Party in Umdoni municipality extends a warm welcome and commendation to the mayor, Cllr MJ Cele-Luthuli, for the recent successful mayoral walkabout in Scottburgh. The initiative, which highlighted critical issues within the community, is a progressive step toward strengthening the relationship between the local government and the residents. The walkabout provided a platform for the identification of key challenges, ensuring that the municipality’s management can now respond effectively to the needs of the community.
Cllr. Asghar Khan, Al Jama-ah’s councillor in the Umdoni Municipality, expressed his full support for this important initiative. “We believe this walkabout reflects a significant commitment to understanding and addressing the real needs of our communities,” said Cllr. Khan. “It is a move that shows the mayor’s genuine intent to engage with the people on the ground, listen to their concerns, and create real solutions.”
However, Cllr. Khan emphasised the need for the mayor to extend such efforts beyond Scottburgh. “We call upon the mayor to bring this initiative to the economic hub of our municipality, Umzinto. As a key area that drives economic activity, it is essential that Umzinto’s residents also have an opportunity to engage with the leadership directly and share their concerns,” he added.
Al Jama-Ah remains committed to advocating for inclusive development and ensuring that every community in Umdoni has access to the resources, attention, and support they deserve. The party believes that such proactive measures will foster growth and unity across the municipality.
