PRESS RELEASE

NO EMBARGO

21 October 2024

AL JAMA-AH wishes the country’s thousands of matrics of class 2024 well in their final exams:

Al Jama-ah Party says it is that time of the year again when thousands of matrics throughout the country begin their final examination.

Today, more than 880 000 full-time and part-time candidates will sit for the National Senior Certificate (NSC). The last subject will be written on 27 November 2024.

“We encourage all learners to stay focused and put in the hard work required to attain success in the exams. We are confident that all matrics will do well. Make the sacrifices as any exam is an intentioned lifelong pursuit. Your determination to succeed is the key to success, and to unlock the potential to overcome any challenges,” says Al Jama-ah’s President and Deputy Minister of Social Development Hon Ganief Hendricks.

The party also wishes to thank the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for opening its offices on Saturdays to allow matrics to apply for their identity cards. Al Jama-ah calls on those matrics who are facing administrative challenges in obtaining an identity card, to reach out to the party’s Constituency offices for help.

The party commends the DHA’s Director-General Mr T Makhode’s speedy intervention in a case of a matric learner from Manenberg who had administrative challenges with her application for an identity card. The party brought it to the attention of Mr Makhode and her identity card was swiftly printed and delivered to the Wynberg Home Affairs office on Friday 18 October 2024. The family is forever grateful for the extra mile the department put in to appease an already anxious learner in obtaining her identity card timeously.

Despite the challenges that were faced by some matrics surrounding their identity cards, we trust that these challenges were successfully overcome.

We pray that the Almighty grant all matrics beneficial success, strength and the wisdom to complete their mission!
