AL JAMA-AH hands out school uniforms to learners in Cofimvaba in honour of King Moshoeshoe:
Al Jama-ah Party’s leader, Hon Ganief Hendricks led a party delegation yesterday (16 October 2024), to distribute school uniforms and shoes to the learners at schools in a remote village, Sintele, Cofimvaba in the Chris Hani District Municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Since its leader is the Deputy Minister of Social Development, it granted the party to reach out to these communities in a different capacity. The distribution of the school uniforms were in honour of the legacy of King Moshoeshoe and his father who were both incarcerated on Robben Island during 1856 for their resistance against the occupation and theft of their land by British settlers.
The party’s delegation who accompanied its leader to Sintele, included: Councillors Thapelo Amad (City of Johannesburg); G.M Cele (Chief Whip of Council: Umuziwabantu Local Municipality in Harding); Asghar Khan (Umdoni Municipality); the party’s Secretary General Faried Achmat and Achmat Hendricks (City of Cape Town); Kabelo Nthekiso (North West Province) and Mr Faizel Khan (National Working Committee).
“Rendering services to the learners is in honour of King Moshoeshoe and his father who was a chief at the time. They left behind a proud legacy to protect the land against occupation and theft by the British settlers. Their sacrifices must be remembered and taught to the youth,” says Hendricks.
The uniforms and school shoes were procured by Al Jama-ah Party in association with the office of the Deputy Minister.
