The 8th of August found over 400 residents impacted by flooding in Riverlands. Over 200 of these residents have lost everything as a result of the floods…

Al Jama-ah MP Adv. Shameemah Salie has been assisting Abdurahman Fataar of the Muslim Youth and Welfare Society in Chatsworth for several months with appeals for feeding and madrassa in the area and surrounds.

The assistance to the affected community has now extended where the Women’s League of Al Jama-ah and Icare Children’s Foundation are uniting in assisting and securing of  clothes, toiletries, and ingredients for feeding the much affected community as it is evident that there is a long road ahead as the area remains a red zone.

Floods have separated communities and left homes completely destroyed.
Affected residents are currently resident in churches and schools.

Al Jama-ah MP encourages NPO’s and NPC to unite in efforts to assist affected communities. Icare Children’s Foundation is one of the NPO’s which has been a supporter of Al Jamaah for years in assistance to upliftment and empowerment of communities and one of the organizations our MP has been an ambassador for. Today we connect Icare Children’s Foundation and the Muslim Youth and Welfare Society of Chatsworth that we can unify in strength as we continue our joint responsibility to empowerment, upliftment and assistance to the most vulnerable and affected communities.

Should you be able to assist towards much needed ingredients for feeding, toiletries, clothing and shoes please reach out to any of the organisations mentioned in the post to assist.

Currently the NPO in Chatsworth is providing meals twice a day to those affected – But they need our assistance. Today 17th of August just when we assumed a bit of reprieve, more flooding and assistance needed as more homes and residents impacted.
